چکیده

Konzo is a neurological disorder of selective upper motor neurons. It an irreversible paralytic disease associated with prolonged consumption Cassava. contains cyanogenic glycosides metabolized to hydrogen cyanide, which has been shown by studies affect the neurons central nervous system. The Irvine, Beattie Bresnahan (IBB) scale recently developed forelimb for assessment fine control and digits after cervical spinal cord injury such as Konzo. 20 Adult male Wistar rats were assigned 4 experimental groups (i) n=5, (ii) konzo-induced group (iii) induced + Complan n=5 (iv) Induced Bambara Nut (Okpa). bitter cassava foods taken oral ingestion period weeks. done using specific parameters Predominant Elbow Joint movement, Contact Volar Support, Grasping method. body weight animals was also recorded every week. data obtained analyzed ANOVA. result showed that there significant difference (p<0.05) between rehabilitated milk nut when compared unrehabilitated Konzo-induced group. There differences in results being tested scaling. IBB confirmed high level cyanide content affected behavioral attributes it can be ameliorated use (Okpa) concluded insufficiently processed toxic neurotoxicity effects on Spinal Cord especially capable measuring gradual improvements functions this model may new effective tool peripheral nerve injury.

The Irvine, Beatties, and Bresnahan (IBB) Forelimb Recovery Scale: An Assessment of Reliability and Validity

The IBB scale is a recently developed forelimb scale for the assessment of fine control of the forelimb and digits after cervical spinal cord injury [SCI; (1)]. The present paper describes the assessment of inter-rater reliability and face, concurrent and construct validity of this scale following SCI. It demonstrates that the IBB is a reliable and valid scale that is sensitive to severity of S...

Analysis of The Sensitivity and Reproducibility Of The Basso, Beattie, Bresnahan (BBB) Scale in Wistar Rats

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the sensitivity and reproducibility of the Basso, Beattie, Bresnahan functional scale in the assessment of the locomotor capacity of rats after spinal cord injury. METHODS Thirty male Wistar rats underwent laminectomy and mild, moderate or severe spinal cord contusions using the New York University Weight Drop Impactor. The mice were followed for 28 days, after which tim...

A computerized system for the application of Basso, Beattie and Bresnahan scale in Wistar rats

OBJECTIVES To develop and test a computer program to assist researchers in assigning scores in the application of the Basso, Beattie and Bresnahan (BBB) scale and to compare these scores when doing so in free, targeted and automated computer-assisted modes. METHOD To test the program, the participants used the Impactor methodology recommended by the New York University (USA), in which 12 Wist...

assessment of the efficiency of s.p.g.c refineries using network dea

data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...
